Mission The Risk Management Department's mission is to prevent or minimize employee occupational injuries/illness and to implement loss control measures to minimize liability. The Importance of Risk Management The Risk Management Department most important goal is to protect the assets and financial well being of the City through loss prevention programs. The first objective is to set parameters to determine risk and the exposure loss. The parameters consist have identifying the hazard and potential impact; analysis the risk to determine degree of risk reduction; and residual risk management capabilities. The second objective is to management the risk by avoiding the risk, assuming the risk, reducing the risk, or transferring the risk. Transferring the risk is done through insurance or hold harmless agreements. The Risk Management Department monitors jobs sites and work related practices of all employees, encourage employees to be safety conscious, investigates incidents, performs safety audits, files insurance claims, provides safety training, and implements occupational injury return to work program. The department's primary responsibility is to maintain property, liability, and workers compensation insurance coverage. The Risk Management Department achieves its responsibilities by close coordination, full participation and cooperation from all City employees and Citizens alike.
