My position on the City Commission allows me to once again do what was the most satisfying part of being the Kingsville City Secretary, which is serving the public. I was employed with the City of Kingsville from 1980 until retirement in 2012 and held the position of Kingsville City Secretary for the last nine (9) years.  As City Secretary, I served as the Chief Election Official responsible for all city elections.

I was the first City Secretary for the City of Kingsville to receive the designation of Texas Registered Municipal Clerk (TRMC) from the University of North Texas in Denton and the designation of Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) from International Institute of Municipal Clerks.  Other City positions held during my employment were: Wastewater Department Secretary, Human Resource Director’s Secretary, Ambulance Billing Clerk, Risk Management Secretary, Code Enforcement Secretary, and Fire Chief’s Secretary.  I also helped out, when needed, in the Purchasing, Municipal Court, and Utility Billing Departments.

I was born in Alice, Texas, raised and educated in Kingsville.   I am married to Alonzo Lopez, Jr., retired Kingsville Fire Chief, and we have 5 children and 9 grandchildren.  I am presently employed with the Kingsville Independent School District.  I am a member of the Kingsville Chamber of Commerce, Texas Municipal Clerks Association, and the International Institutes of Municipal Clerks. I ran for City Commissioner because I care about our community and I want our community to be a better place to live.   My goal is to be your voice when spending taxpayer’s funds with a focus on solutions to your various concerns.  I will work to the best of my ability with all entities for the betterment of our city.
