The City of Kingsville submitted a grant application to the Texas General Land Office on October 28, 2020, under the Community Development Block Grant for Recovery-Mitigation Program – 2016 Flood State Mitigation regarding the Citywide Wastewater Collection System Improvements. The application requested $7,293,111.00 for wastewater improvements pertaining to the adopted Wastewater Capital Improvements Plan. On March 11, 2021, the City of Kingsville was notified by the Texas General Land Office that it was awarded the grant, which includes construction cost, Engineering fees, Grant Administration fees, and the City’s 1% match. The Citywide Wastewater Collection System Improvements include the following:

  • 18” Wastewater Main Replacement from Corral Ave to 3MGD North WWTP – 4,700 LF
  • 15” Wastewater Main Replacement along Lott Ave from 7th to 10th – 1,500 LF
  • Proposed Lift Station and 18” Wastewater Main Rehabilitation – 11,400 LF
  • City-wide Lift Station Mitigation – 9 Each
  • 8” Wastewater Main Replacement Alley between Johnston St. and Fordyce St. – 1,000 LF
  • 12” WW Main Replacement along 10th from Ragland Ave. to Santa Gertrudis Ave. 5.850 LF
  • City-wide Manhole Rehabilitation – 78 Each

The project aims to increase community resiliency by reducing economic loss from inflow and infiltration into the wastewater collection system., protecting public investment in community-owned facilities, minimizing environmental impacts of hazards, and minimizing disruption to utilities.

Construction is expected to begin in Fall 2022. The Texas General Land Office funds can only be used for wastewater improvement as shown in the map below. If you have any other questions, please contact me at 361-595-8004.
